I found some aspects of my stay unsatisfactory. My allocated room overlooked beer barrels and a main road instead of offering the promised lake view. Mandy at reception assisted with moving me to a better room, but it still showed signs of needing attention. The evening meal presented a mixed experience. My partner's beer-battered fish lacked the advertised crunch. It was quite pale. I expected a more crisp texture.

the superior king room had a comfortable bed and a great shower. i found decaff tea on the well-stocked welcome tray and enjoyed the border biscuits. the staff provided plenty of choice at breakfast, including cafetière coffee and fresh fruit.

the hotel is undergoing modernization work.
