The staff were great! breakfast was excellent. the room was good with our dog. the food options were excellent. We got big portions.

I found some areas lacking in atmosphere. My suite was meant to have a view over the garden, but i assumed it was from the bathroom and couldn't see it.

The staff was helpful. They ensured i enjoyed my stay and assisted with a slightly later check-out time, allowing me to use the pool again. the reception staff was excellent and very friendly.

dinner in the restaurant offered a good choice on the menu and all the food was served hot. breakfast had good choices with cereals, juices, and fruit being self-serve, plus, the food was nice!

the hotel is a short walk, around 10 minutes, down to the lake. it is about a 15 minute drive or bus ride into keswick and the bus service stopped right outside the hotel, so that was super convenient!

The leisure facilities were a bonus. I used them on both days, and they were open until 8 pm! the pool offered a jacuzzi, a sauna, and a steam room. i found books in alcoves everywhere!

I found some aspects of my stay unsatisfactory. My allocated room overlooked beer barrels and a main road instead of offering the promised lake view. Mandy at reception assisted with moving me to a better room, but it still showed signs of needing attention. The evening meal presented a mixed experience. My partner's beer-battered fish lacked the advertised crunch. It was quite pale. I expected a more crisp texture.

the superior king room had a comfortable bed and a great shower. i found decaff tea on the well-stocked welcome tray and enjoyed the border biscuits. the staff provided plenty of choice at breakfast, including cafetière coffee and fresh fruit.

the hotel is undergoing modernization work.
